Original brush and ink drawing used on CD cover of THE FIREBALLS 'Voodoo' single. It also appeared in press ads, posters, flyers and even semi-animated in the music video. The image is on paper and roughly measures 210mm X 350mm. There are some faint pencil construction lines and flicks of white paint that is normal with line art for photo reproduction. The original drawing is hand signed below in pencil.

This is the original pen and ink drawing by Dillon Naylor that was used on page three of the huge selling MARTIN/MOLLOY comic #3, 1998, based on the Tony Martin/Mick Molloy radio show. The image is a splash page for the story 'The Bargearse Christmas Special' and is crammed with tiny details and jokes. (As a trivia side note, the crowd scene features other characters from Dillon's comics including the cast of POP CULTURE AND TWO MINUTE NOODLES and DA 'n' DILL.) The drawing is about A3 in size on thick card with an image area of about 265 X 400 mm. (The drawing is pictured along side the printed page which has had computer grey tones added to it. The original drawing is black and white only.) There are some faint pencil construction lines and flicks of white paint that is normal with line art for photo reproduction. The original drawing is hand signed and comes with a mint condition copy of the printed comic book. Would look great framed in the pool room.

The Sydney SUN HERALD Sunday comic section recently dropped the DA 'N' DILL newspaper strip after many years and it currently sits in limbo. This is the first time in almost 20 years that I haven't been drawing these characters in one form or another, so it feels very strange. Hopefully, they will be back one day.

Here's a few pages from a graphic novel for the US educational market I completed not long ago. The subject matter was a dream for me personally- a shadowy ghost story set around an ancient house in 1930's rural Texas. I've included some of the roughs next to the finished pages to show how my inks often kill the energy I always like in the pencil drawing. Still, I'm very happy with the final results. It should be in print soon but I'll have a full mock up of it (sans word balloons) plus original art on display at my table at SUPANOVA Melb..

Famous comic and pop culture convention/expo SUPANOVA is now a national event and is coming to Melbourne March 29-30th where I will be making a rare daylight appearance as a guest! Details here

That's right, i'll be at the BATRISHA/COWTOWN COMIC stand both days selling books, back issue comics, stickers, t-shirts and everything else i've still got in stock so come and pick up something nice, ask me what I've been doing these past two years and get me to sign a body part. Young Cyrus may even make an appearance!

The convention also features a number of my buddies hawking their wares down Artists Alley, so put on your homemade Stormtrooper costume and come on down. Should be great.

Gerard Thomas Naylor 1971-2007

Gerard was a good brother and friend to me and we had a lot of fun growing up together in the 70's. I'm lucky to have hundreds of great memories. Kicking the footy out on the street at dusk, trying to bounce the ball off the power cables so that the nieghbour's lights would flicker on and off inside. riding bikes down to the shops with an armful of soft drink deposit bottles so we could buy 10 cents of mixed lollies (quite a big bag, back then) Trying to wake up early enough each Saturday morning to see the start of the Thunderbirds . It started at six am but we could only ever manage to get out there in time to turn on the big old black and white tv half way into it. I can always remember the incredible day we finally got up early enough to see the elusive opening credits. But from there, Gerard kept getting me up earlier and earlier. We were watching The Samurai before that, and then Gene Autry - The Singing Cowboy before that. Finally it got to the point we were watching the end of Friday's late, late movie and then Dad finally put a stop to it.

We had some great holidays together with the family and later, he would occasionally come up to where I lived in St Kilda and we had a few big nights out seeing bands.

Gerard became an Uncle a year and a half ago and was due to come back home this Christmas where he would have met my son Cyrus for the first time. I know he would have really loved that.

We'll miss you, little brother.

remember those school magazines with names like PURSUIT and COMET that always seemed to be sitting in stacks in the school library or blowing across the quadrangle like a tumbleweed? well, i've been doing comics in every issue of CHALLENGE magazine since 1987(!!!) and i thought i'd post the most recent one up for you because the topic of the issue included comics.

the issue has little articles on cartoonist leigh hobbs and glenn lumsden and david de vries. (a post somewhere a short time back was asking about what these guys are up to these days- seems they're mostly doing book covers, magazine spot illos, etc.)

So until the log jam unjams, you'll just have to enjoy their other entertaining features, like reprints of Garfield newspaper strips or the K-Zone fart piano

i happened on this messageboard thread and was amused/confused by it's reference to a poster i did a few years back.

if you click on the little poster images at the bottom of the ROCK AM RING page and compare it with the one on GIGPOSTER.COM , i think it's most defintely a swipe in terms of concept, compostion and colour but the repliers suggestion that the 2004 image HAD to have existed first in some way is a tad annoying, as it was, in fact an original design i did in 1999.

after an extended break to perfect my daddy skills, the gold ledger award-winning comic BATRISHA THE VAMPIRE GIRL is back in K-ZONE with six new pages of halarity. soon, that is... probably dec. or the bumper 13th issue.
